In the state of New Jersey, jurisdictional inspections are required as follows:
- Boilers will be inspected internally and externally on an annual basis. If necessary, one annual external inspection will be done at approximately a six-month interval from the internal inspection. This includes all steam boilers having relief devices set to discharge at a pressure greater than 15 psi, and/or hot water boilers having relief devices set to discharge at a pressure greater than 160 psi and exceeding temperatures of 250 degrees fahrenheit, when such boilers serve dwellings of six or more family units or other accommodations with more than 25 persons
- Refrigeration systems will be inspected annually by an authorized state or insurance company inspector. This includes all refrigeration systems using flammable or toxic refrigerants of over 3 tons of refrigerating capacity or requiring over 6 driving horsepower, and/or all refrigeration systems using nonflammable and nontoxic refrigerants of over 18 tons of refrigerating capacity or requiring over 36 driving horsepower.
